At an Expert Advisory Group on AIDS meeting, it was noted that the Working Party of Regional Transfusion Directors considered it possible to commence screening of blood donations in October 1985. Details for notifying a donor tested to be positive for HTLV-3 antibody were set out by Dr Harold Gunson.
