Infected Blood Support Schemes

Please note that the services below are independent of the Infected Blood Inquiry.

The UK government put in place payment schemes for people who contracted hepatitis C via a NHS blood transfusion prior to September 1991, or via blood products before 1985.

Each of the four UK countries has a government organisation who are administering the scheme for that country. You should contact the relevant scheme based on where in the UK you, or the person who you are making a claim in connection with, were infected.

The support schemes are also making the interim compensation payments currently available.  For more information about compensation see here.

Infected Blood scheme compensation payments are exempt from income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax.  The statutory instrument making this provision is here.
