Draft Meeting Minutes from the Advisory Committee for testing for the Presence of Australia Antigen and its Antibody. Issues discussed include 1) Regional testing for HBsAg in Glasgow going well however one positive donation tested after issue had caused a recipient to receive HbsAg positive platelets; 2) it is undesirable to use untested blood; 3) Clinicians should be advised against using untested blood unless in urgent cases; 4) when sufficient funding is made available for equipment nationwide testing will be possible and 5) whether regional transfusion centres should be equipped to test any known HAA positive specimens.
