Transcript of day 81 of the Oral Hearings of The Penrose Inquiry. A closed session where a young man gave anonymous evidence under the pseudonym Alex about his severe haemophilia and hepatitis C infection, received when he was very young. Alexs parents were told by Dr Pettigrew at Yorkhill Hospital that all blood products from March 1986 were heat treated and so safe from infection. Alex was born in April 1986. Discusses the difficulty with living in a remote community away from other families dealing with similar issues. HCV antibodies first mentioned in a letter to his GP in 1989, but not discussed with Alexs parents. Unsuccessful treatment of Interferon in 1994.
