Dr Paul Giangrande, director of the Oxford Haemophilia Centre, wrote to the Department of Health, expressing the view that "some form of payment should be made to patients who have simply tested positive for the HCV antibody, even if they subsequently cleared this and did not have abnormal liver function tests"; and that it was "grossly unfair" that people coinfected "should not receive additional compensation".
