Dr Lane described the response to the syndrome as "the American over-reaction to the problem" and that the causative factors remained unknown. He suggested an urgent meeting to discuss strategic alternatives at BPL for manufacturing small pool freeze-dried cryoprecipitate, in anticipation of increased resistance to American products.
