Minutes of a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens show that the terms of reference of a Working Group focusing on the handling of material from AIDS patients did not include blood products because "the Blood Transfusion Service AIDS Working Party had a study of blood products well under way" and "the Committee was not equipped to do a detailed study of blood products since members did not have the know-how."
