According to Dr Diana Walford's oral evidence, the DHSS did not take any steps to ensure that clinicians, patients cohorts or representative bodies such as the Haemophilia Society were aware of the serious nature of Non-A, Non-B Hepatitis because the DHSS relied on clinicians as professionals to make themselves aware of issues.
