David Watters informed Dr Rizza that haemophilia patients at Raigmore Hospital and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary were not being advised or told their HIV status. This followed from a 14 year old boy being told of his HIV antibody status despite none of his family knowing.

The parents of a witness to the Inquiry were informed their son was HIV positive in 1987 or 1988, some 2 or 3 years after he had tested positive.

Trevor Marsden was only told that he had Hepatitis C when he attended the Belfast Haemophilia Centre for a routine blood test in 1996.

Mark Stewart transcript recorded his father died in 2002, from hepatocellular cancer, and his brother was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2008. He died in 2013. Mark felt he may suffer the same fate. No one in their family was warned of the risks of treatment with concentrate, nor that liver function would be tested and monitored. Mark learnt he had Hepatitis C only in 2007.

People treated at the Belfast Haemophilia Centre had memories of meetings being held there. Some attendees recalled Dr Elizabeth Mayne giving those present the choice of whether they wanted to know the result of their HIV test.

A special meeting on AIDS was held at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. Dr Delamore stated that at the meeting that HTLV-III testing would shortly be available but until then patients should assume that they were positive and inform their dentist.
