In a letter to Dr John Cash, Dr Brian McClelland stated that as an interim measure a specific reference to AIDS had been added in the donor call-up letters sent out from the Edinburgh and South East Blood Transfusion Service, drawing attention to the leaflet, and adding specific questions and references to AIDS and the leaflet questionnaire completed by donors.
