Ann Hume told the Inquiry that she never received a conclusive diagnosis: she was first diagnosed as having hereditary haemorrhagic disorder, then told she had Haemophilia B and later that she had von Willebrand disorder, although both these diagnoses were later discredited.

A complaint against the North Hampshire NHS Trust was reviewed by the Independent Review Panel. A witness described how the Genito-urinary and Sexual Health Clinic served all HIV patients with the exception of the haemophilia patients with HIV, who were ring-fenced within the haemophilia centre. This meant that her husband did not have the benefit of discussing treatment options with HIV specialists.
